The National Football League or NFL is the largest professional American football league. It is an unincorporated association and is controlled by its members. The association was formed with eleven teams in year 1920. At that time, it was called the American Professional Football Association and changed the name to National Football League in 1922. The league currently has exactly thirty-two teams.
