There is a silent, but chronic disease out there that can make you lose your limbs in no time; it is diabetes. One in every 15 Americans live with either Type 1 Diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes.
You can prevent diabetes happening to you by looking at the cause of this disease. There are many factors that contribute to the diabetes but often times it is your way of living a lifestyle that makes your prone to diabetes. For example, if you are not physically active active and obese at the same time, your risk of getting diabetes is much higher than people who live a physically active lifestyle.
Some of the end results that you get along with diabetes are peripheral neuropathy (pain and numbness in the hands and feet), foot deformities and, finally, amputation.
There are over 21 million people in the United States of America who suffer from diabetes. And about one third of the people in this group live without knowing they have the diabetes until the big symptoms show up and it is bit too late. There are some important things you can do prevent your diabetes from going undiagnosed. You should always check your feet for potential signs and symptoms since the infections caught during the early stage of the disease can prevent the amputation of limb from happening. That’s probably one of the main reason now a days concerned professionals in health and medical field urge their patients to go under pre-screening process for pre-diabetes.
